About ALS Society of Manitoba
History
ALS Society of Manitoba was founded in 1980 in Winnipeg as a support group for people living with ALS, their families, friends and other interested people. Since then, the Society has become a registered charity and an affiliated unit of the ALS Society of Canada. The Unit Director from ALS Society of Manitoba’s board represents our region by serving on the board of ALS Canada.
We have a strong working relationship with ALS Team at the Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg, where our office is located.
Our provincial society currently maintains a mailing list of over 11,000 people. Members of ALS Society of Manitoba are also members of ALS Society of Canada. Throughout the country, ALS Societies endeavor to provide direct support to those whose lives are touched by ALS. We create public awareness about ALS and raise money for research.
